Today is Easter Monday in 2025. It should be a commemoration day. An happy day. Today is a sad day. Pope Francis died. He died the day Christians commemorate Christ’s resurrection. As a Roman Christian, it is with a loud heart that I am writing this post. And then I came across this interview extract from 2021:

My very first thought was: the unfortunate man had screwed up. Knowing his acquaintances with his generous donors from Israel, he confused the Christian religion with the Jewish one. My second thought was: a joke. Another Trump’s bravado due to his overblown ego. Then, I had to make sure. So I checked it out. And yes! It turns out that he really did say it… He really d.i.d. in an interview on the show FlashPoint on The Victory Channel, a Christian TV network, on Oct. 1, 2021.
Before the interview, this guy was only an insult to intelligence. Only. After it, he just definitely upgraded to an insult to all morals for 1,4 billion Christians.
Does he even know what Christianity is about? Does he even have the slightest idea that his entire policy is the exact opposite of everything the Christian religion preaches?
Trump would undoubtedly have called Jesus a leftist con artist. His every thought was devoted to others, to those who had nothing. Does Trump only care that the Christian religion knows no frontiers? The Christian religion dictates that we should help strangers, by no means reject and stigmatize them when they knock on our door. As Christ did it when He was among us on Earth, the Christian religion requires us to help the neediest, the illest, the poorest.

We’re all too familiar with the climate-skepticism of Trump and his anti-science, anti-research, anti-education administration.
